Play & Early Childhood Education (ECED-440) is a course offered through the University of British Columbia Faculty of Education (January–April 2026), led by Professor Stephen Berg.
This course explores the role of play in early childhood learning, examining key practices, research, and approaches that support child development. Students learn to observe, analyze, and implement play-based experiences that foster active, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning.
